When I am teaching my children about Jesus, I am planting seeds for generations to come. As I am living my life in faith and they are watching, they are seeing what it means to be a follower. Their eyes and watching and their ears are hearing God’s promises. With each day the words chisel onto their little hearts. His word opens their minds and nourishes their little bodies. And with each day they grow in Spirit and they learn a little more about Him. His love becomes engraved onto their hearts.
When they will look back to their childhoods they will see His hand that has always been on them. They will recognize His grace over their lives. Those little seeds of faith of faith that were planted when they were little will grow and spring up with deep roots. They will be pruned as they grow and bring forth fruit.
And then they will become parents themselves and plant their own seeds into their own children’s hearts. And as they speak to their own children, they will remember the words I spoke of His goodness. They will recite the same scriptures. They will pray the same prayers. And they will watch in amazement as those little seeds bring forth a harvest for generations to come. And they will give thanks for God’s faithfulness.
