As I sat alone in prayer God whispered to me, “There is beauty in your brokenness.”
And as I sat there with a heavy heart and tears running down my cheeks I began to think about those words.
I thought about how my pain led me to salvation. That in a time of complete darkness I turned towards His light. There was that beauty He had been speaking of.
I then thought about all my current struggles. The pain that still lays hidden, the heaviness and struggles of everyday life, and He revealed the beauty hiding there too. I saw how my biggest struggles draw me in closer to Him every day.
I thought about how my heart is constantly desperate for Him and how I long for Him above all else.
If my life hadn’t been full of these struggles would I be chasing after Him so fervently as I am now?
If the weight of life didn’t feel heavy upon me would I still fall on my face in prayer?
As I pondered all of these things I began to see more clearly about how Jesus views my brokenness.
I saw Him standing close to me and teaching me through the hard times.
When I looked into the darkness I saw His light and beautiful face shining back at me.
Our King knows what it is to be broken, and we know the beauty that came from His brokenness.
So when life feels hard and you feel as though pain may swallow you, I pray that you would look at your brokenness in a new light.
That you would hear Him saying “There is beauty in your brokenness” because in your brokenness He is there.
