When Mary was at a wedding and they ran out of wine she knew they had a problem, she also knew that Jesus could help her.
She went to Him and said, “We have no more wine.”
She simply stated the problem to Jesus.
She didn’t tell Him how to solve the problem.
She didn’t question what He would do.
She didn’t come up with her own idea or own plans.
She simply brought her problem to Jesus and left it with Him. She then told the servants to do whatever He said.
Jesus’ mother trusted that He would help her.
She knew He could fix the problem that had come up unexpectedly.
When I have a problem I want to be more like Mary. I want to bring the problem to Jesus and leave it right there in His hands and to walk away knowing He is working…
But so often I bring Him my problems and I try to tell Him what to do. I offer suggestions and ideas of what would fix the issue. I ask for certain outcomes and the results I want to see.
What if I stopped doing that?
What if instead of offering up solutions I just left it in His hands, because after all it is not our solutions that He needs.
He wants to hear what is on our hearts.
He wants to hear the things that are worrying us and the things that we are struggling about.
He wants us to bring Him our anxieties and leave them with Him and walk away feeling taken care of.
Lord, help us today to bring our anxieties to you and leave them in your hands.
Help us not to be quick to jump in and try to control the outcome we want to see.
Let us trust in the plan you have and know that You are working to help us.
You take care of us better than we could ever imagine, just as you did that day.
You provided the wine and it was the finest wine they could have hoped for.
Help us to see Your glory just as you did that day when You turned water into wine.
